How to setup my firewall with the Softphone?

ANSWER

The softphone is using the protocol IAX2, one of the big advantages of IAX2 is the relative ease with which it integrates with NAT, especially compared with the SIP NAT traversal. IAX2 uses just one UDP port, 4569.

Under Windows XP or Vista, the process is exactly the same on the firewall embedded in the Operating System.

In the control panel open your windows firewall if it’s enabled click on change settings . The Windows Firewall Settings window is now opened, click on the Exceptions tab and Add port… set the name voipGATE , port number 4569 and protocol UDP. Do the same step if you have an external firewall on your personal network and your softphone is ready to work!
